In Congress as on television, generals are treated with awed respect, service members spoken of as if they were saints. Liberals are especially careful to make the right noises: obeisance to the uniform having become the shibboleth of patriotism, as anti-Communism used to be.
I think the author may have missed a few items. Thinking about his article for, oh, about seven seconds, brought to mind a few
nakedly ad hominem attacks observations of some significance (which are representative but far from inclusive). How did these manage to slip past the author’s attention other than by willful omission? Yes, man is the only creature who is capable of deceiving himself. So consider this:

There was also John Murtha, who said U.S. Marines "killed innocent civilians in cold blood."
The author’s intent appears to be do open the floodgates to malign and denigrate the military, but that horse left the barn some time ago. Anyone without a personal memory hole should find these examples impossible to ignore.
