What’s up with the Navy?
First, they want to allow homosexual sailors to be married by Naval chaplains at Naval chapels. Then they change their minds.
Now, they want to name a ship after César Chávez.
According to PBS, starting in 1946 César Chávez served in the Navy for two years, which he described as “the worst two years of my life.”
Are there no Naval heroes for such an honor (hint: yes)? And does any of this seem peculiar?
The decision, announced Tuesday, "appear[s] to be more about making a political statement than upholding the Navy’s history and tradition," Hunter said in press release.
