From Slate:

After Republicans abruptly put the New START treaty on hold on Tuesday, Obama took the battle public on Thursday, hoping to force a vote. “It is a national security imperative that the United States ratify the New START treaty this year,” said Mr. Obama, standing alongside Henry Kissinger and other former advisers to Republican presidents in a series of television ads.  “There is no higher national security priority for the lame-duck session of Congress.”

Television ads. Does that confirms New START is a resounding non-issue with most voters?

Saying “There is no higher national security priority for the lame-duck session of Congress,” the President is no doubt aware of the political rule of thumb: don’t ask the question if you can’t stand the answer.

It’s all quite interesting because the CJCS is already on record as saying the U.S. debt is our biggest security issue.
