NROL-41 Payload Mating. Yes, Vandenberg Gets Foggy

The mission known as NROL-41 flew from Vandenberg AFB’s Space Launch Complex 3-East a little after 9 PM local last night.

Riding on the 501-version of the Atlas 5, this was the NRO’s first launch in about 20-months.

Busy hands are happy hands—within reason—so the NRO should be happy with the rest of their ambitious manifest as outlined by Spaceflight Now and Songs of Space and Nuclear War:

  • A Delta 4-Heavy rocket for NROL-32 from Cape Canaveral on October 19
  • A Delta 4-Heavy rocket for NROL-49 from Vandenberg January 15th, 2011
  • A Delta 4 rocket for NROL-27 from Cape Canaveral March 11th, 2011
  • An Atlas 5 for NROL-34 from Vandenberg in the spring, possibly in May but earlier reported as March 31st.

Congratulations to the NRO and the Atlas team!
