This Is Your TV On Electro-magnetic Interference

In addition to the practice of jamming Eutelsat, Iran has added to their list of jammed satellites by interfering with the signals coming off Egypt’s Nilesat.

“First it was news, then sports, and in August it was music,” said Nilesat Chief Executive Salah Hamza.   “The jamming is aimed at one program but it affects broadcast customers sharing the transponder.”

The bad news for Nilesat, as it was for Eutelsat, is that there are few actions available other than switching to transponders that are harder to jam from Iranian territory or protesting to the ITU, which has been even less successful with Iran than the UN weapons inspectors.
